Christy has spent much of her career helping people discover that there is rarely only one way to learn, adapt, or move forward.
For more than 14 years, her work has included adaptive recreation, personal safety, assistive technology, self-advocacy, transition programming, mentoring, and disability education. She began teaching adaptive sports and self-defense in 2012 and later served in executive leadership with STRIVE4You, where she helped oversee programs reaching participants and professionals across the country.
When Clear The Way Consulting was founded in 2025, Christy took leadership of REAL In Action, CTWC’s flagship experiential learning department. Her approach to the program reflects a philosophy she brings to nearly everything she does: meet people where they are, give them more than one path to understanding, and create opportunities to practice what they are learning.
Christy’s professional training includes Partners in Policymaking, First Aid, CPR, Mental Health First Aid, adaptive fitness and recreation, personal safety instruction, assistive technology, business communication, and braille-related study. She has also worked with transition-age students and families, national veterans programs, and professional education efforts.
Her perspective is professional, but it is also personal. Christy is a wife, mother, mentor, and athlete. As a parent raising children with vision loss and as someone whose own life is shaped by low vision and blindness, she understands that independence is rarely about doing everything alone. It is about having options, knowing how to advocate, learning what works for you, and having the confidence to make your own decisions.
She has run marathons, competed in goalball, bowled, ballroom danced, raised a family, led programs, and helped others find their own way forward. To Christy, those things are not remarkable because disability was involved. They are simply parts of a full life.
That is exactly the kind of life CTWC wants people to know is possible.
